Kuala Lumpur, 30 August 2019 – CARE Concierge, Malaysian startup focusing on the local elder care industry was recently announced as a regional finalist in the JUMPSTARTER 2020 Global Pitch Competition, hosted by Alibaba and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). The startup was among the 5 announced finalists at the competition, from over 200 applicants regionwide.

CARE Concierge was also awarded with The Innovation Startup Award for its belief in the importance of helping the elderly age-in-place and providing peace-of-mind to family members through its proprietary tech app. It was also voted and recognised as the Audience’s Favourite – becoming the only startup to earn both accolades – for its efforts in revolutionising the elder care industry.

JUMPSTARTER is a not-for-profit initiative curated by Alibaba Entrepreneur’s Fund. It is a platform for entrepreneurs and innovators to pitch and showcase their ideas. JUMPSTARTER aims to identify and support the growth of quality, high-potential startups and provide high-impact networking opportunities that can spur the growth in startup-ecosystems worldwide.

CARE Concierge, with their achievement of regional finalist at JUMPSTARTER 2020 yesterday and its award of becoming the SEA Startup Disruptor of the Year in Wild Digital 2019 in July, has been recognised with two SEA awards for its innovation in the elder care industry, and places Malaysia at the forefront of this sector in ASEAN.

The startup, along with the other regional finalists announced at JUMPSTARTER will proceed to compete in the grand finale in February next year, where they will face off against other finalists from Shenzhen, London, San Francisco, Toronto, Hong Kong, Beijing, and Shanghai. Top 5 teams will receive a cash prize of US$100,000 (approx. RM420,000) to support their future growth.

In addition to receiving financial rewards to further their social impact, top JUMPSTARTER companies will also gain access to the Alibaba ecosystem to help them gain insight, experience, and resources to expand their businesses.
